My Practice Area
I am a criminal defense lawyer actively engaged in the defense of individuals who have been accused of possessing, manufacturing or trafficking illegal drugs. I also limit the number of new cases I accept each year. With this approach, I am able to give my clients the personal attention and quality legal representation they expect and deserve at a very difficult time in their lives.
Interstate 40 is a major corridor for the trafficking of illegal drugs from the west coast to the east coast. It runs east and west through the following Texas counties: (1) Deaf Smith County; (2) Oldham County; (3) Potter County; (4) Carson County; (5) Gray County; (6) Donley County; and (7) Wheeler County.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (the Highway Patrol) has a very aggressive program to combat the flow of illegal drugs through Texas. They use every technique imaginable to stop every “suspicious automobile” they encounter on Texas highways. Most of my clients were riding in one of those automobiles.
My clients fall into three categories:
- Innocent people accused of crimes they did not commit;
- Good people who made a mistake; and
- People with some degree of involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Each group presents its own challenges.
Some of my clients had no knowledge that they were riding in cars that were carrying illegal drugs. In reality, they are charged with crimes they did not commit. I put tremendous effort into litigating each case to reduce the possibility of a wrongful conviction.
Most of my clients are good people who made a mistake. In these cases I work closely with my clients to address any underlying issues that may have contributed to their actions. I provide assistance in mitigating the impact of their actions on their lives and future.
Some of my clients have some degree of involvement with the illegal drug trade. These cases can be very challenging. They require aggressive hard work.
My practice is structured to allow me to devote a considerable amount of time to each of my clients, to give each of them personalized attention. Each client has a unique set of circumstances, concerns and objectives. With this in mind, I develop a comprehensive plan for every case. My preparation is focused and detailed. After I have conducted a full factual investigation and have thoroughly researched the law applicable to the facts of their case, I give my clients a case analysis and evaluation.
